New Version Alerts on Hung COM+ Components and Features Deep Tracing into Application Bottlenecks
Woburn, Massachusetts: October 16, 2002 - Xtremesoft, Inc. today announced availability of version 2.5, a new release of its AppMetrics for Transactions product. The release of 2.5, will be followed, in a few days, by the release of version 2.0 of Xtremesoft's AppMetrics for BizTalk Server product. The two releases combine to form the foundation of the latest thinking and innovation in managing and monitoring technology for web-based transactional applications, built on the Microsoft platform.
This new version of AppMetrics for Transactions showcases two new pieces of functionality: Component Duration Alerts and Drill-Down Reports for problem diagnosis. Also included are performance and usability enhancements, resulting from millions of hours of field use by over 30 major customers across the world.
The Component Duration Alerts feature notifies administrators when COM+ components don't complete within preset limits. Administrators are alerted when components hang or take longer than expected to complete. Such proactive monitoring leads to faster problem detection and resolution and increases system uptime. Alerts can fire to the Application Event Log, email, and SNMP. The product also supports scripting, which can take corrective action in response to conditions, such as Stopping and Restarting COM+ applications.
Drill-Down Reports trace the flow of activity across components. When a business transaction involves multiple COM+ components, the reports show each method call in sequence, including durations and return status. Such detail exposes bottlenecks, uncovers dependencies between components, and makes problem diagnosis simpler and faster.
